Shaimaa Youssef

Shaimaa is an art therapist with a working experience between 2008 and up till now . She started with an intensive 2 years training under the late professor Magdi Refaat (MD- Art Therapist), and worked as assistant therapist in his private practice for a year. She has been applying arts as means of therapy in individual sessions, open studios & a number of community events for kids & adults in various establishments, both educational & therapeutic. Some of which include: (Alwan wa Awtar Community Center for alternative education- Nahdet El Mahrousa- The German University in Cairo – The Children Cancer Hospital 57357). She was the co-founder of a community development organization (El-Raseef), in which her responsibility was to empower youth using art therapy as means to discover themselves, achieve self-awareness, enhance their creativity & reach a better interaction with their community (family- friends- colleagues- co-workers). Her understanding of successful use of arts & creativity as a psycho therapeutic approach is to promote dialogue between the three inseparable components of the human being (the psyche-the body-the soul). And using that as a stepping-stone to resolve conflicts & heal traumas.
